As if it wasn’t awesome enough already, Metro Vancouver’s first vegan store has launched a new café. On its main floor, New Westminster’s Karmavore (610 Columbia Street) is now serving tasty Vietnamese fast food from Vancouver’s Chau Veggiexpress (5052 Victoria Drive).
The grand opening started on Friday (February 1) and runs until tonight (February 2) at 9 p.m. A fundraiser for Mission’s Hearts on Noses mini-pig sanctuary, the Pig Out event highlights Karmavore’s expanded menu with table service on a pay by donation basis.
Karmavore has added later hours to go with the café. It’s now open Sunday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Salim and Jennifer Jamal opened Karmavore in July 2009 with a tiny storefront in Sapperton. In December 2010, the shop moved to its two-floor space in downtown New West.
